Async offers two different ways to create an account. 1. A beginner-friendly way using your email or 2. By providing your own wallet address. For more context on these two login methods please read this article.

A common issue we find is that users first sign up using their email and then later decide to use their own Metamask wallet. This can be frustrating since their email is permanently linked to this original account.

Here are some common questions we receive as well as steps to fix this issue below.

Can I move my artworks minted or in progress to my new account?

Unfortunately we cannot. Artworks minted, or in progress in Canvas are inherently tied to the underlying ETH address associated with your Email-based account.

If you have works already minted, we recommend changing the username of this account to "[your username] archived" or something similar.

If you have artworks in progress in Canvas tool, you'll need to rebuild this work under your new account. Luckily, most of the heavy lifting is done outside of canvas where you organize and save out your PNGs, so rebuilding a piece shouldn't take too long. We recommend going in to your old account so you can copy any descriptions/information that you may want to just paste again in the new build.

Can I transfer Artwork I've purchased to my new account?

Yes of course, to do this you will need to extract the Private Key from your Email-based account. Once you've done this you can load it into Metamask and use it just like you would any other account! This means you can go to Opensea and transfer any of the tokens.

To do this you must:

  1. Extract the Private Key by going here and signing in with your email: https://reveal.magic.link/asyncart DO NOT SHARE THIS PRIVATE KEY WITH ANYONE. With this private key anyone could recreate your wallet and move your funds or NFTs. After exposing the Private Key consider this wallet slightly less secure than it was before. You should be fine, but as a best practice we do not recommend continuing to use this wallet for storing anything of value once the Private Key has been exposed.

  2. Load this Private Key into your Metamask by following these steps: https://metamask.zendesk.com/hc/en-us/articles/360015489331-How-to-import-an-Account

You now can use this wallet anywhere. In fact, if you sign in to Async with this wallet it should look just like it did when you signed in with Email!

Can I transfer my email/username/whitelist status to my new account?

Yes. Even though we can't transfer artworks previously minted or in progress (see above), we can delete your email-based account which will free up your Email as well as Username. We can also transfer whitelist status from your Old account to your new one.

If you'd like to do this please first make sure you have all information you need from your Email-based login, and that you've created an account on Async with your Metamask wallet already. then email support@async.art with the subject line: "Transfer my Account".

In the email we'll need:
- Your Email-based login information: Email and Username

- The Metamask-based login information: ETH address and Username

Please note: we cannot whitelist this new account until you've created an account on Async with it, so please do this before emailing us for the quickest results.
